RIP Chris. You helped me connect with my older brother at another level. He is passed now. When my father died, we played Temple of the Dog. You helped me with their passing, and now that you are gone, how will I deal with yours... You are a legend. Protect us all. You will be missed greatly.

Just Chill

I'm Chirs Cornell's age.\n\nUnlike most people, my 30's and not my teen years defined my music taste. A brilliant, creative decade that was transitioning into a new millenium at the cusp of a technological revolution, but still carrying the heavy luggage of past generations. \n\nBecause of that, I cannot begin to describe how paiinful his death has been to me...the closest has been the death of Ayrton Senna. The end of an era, the realisation that our sacred monsters are vulnerable, too but that, ironically, their untimely death will guarantee them a place in the pantheon of the greatest. I'm not religious but the Ancient Greek probably are the ones who got it right - flawed gods, daring demi-gods and bigger than life humans who would make divinities cry in envy, jealousy and awe.\n\nAnd, you Chris , my beautiful man, is certainly one of the latter.\n\nDescanse em paz.

I'm a 26 year old Iranian and I play guitar occasionally and I love Rock and Heavy Metal in general. Being born in a country with strict rules against western music (Rock music in particular) back in early 2000's, we had to either illegally download music or watch them on Turkish Media (our neighbouring country). The first time I ever saw Chris was on a documentry about him on DreamTV of Turkey somewhere around 2007 with this song in the background. My mind was blown away by his amazing and unique voice and the badass music ofcourse. Eversince then I'm a die-hard fan. My only wish was to attend one of his concerts one day. I guess that dream is forever gone now. RIP my idol. You have changed my life forever. I love you big brother.

Elvis, Lennon, Joplin, Morrison, Hendrix, Cobain, Wylin, Cornell, ...and yet Ozzy lives on. The list is filled with names not to be forgotten. Is it part of the lifestyle, fortune and fame, tragedy's the game no matter the name, when one writes such lyrics filled with emotion pouring all they have including the soul a person tends to become depressed because they are much more in touch with what dies around them, thus putting them at risk filling themselves with negativity absorbing into the very being for which they become. Some would say Einstein was filled with so much knowledge he could never stop thinking and it became to much for him to mentally compartmentalize and it began to run in and over itself he literally went insane. Totally opposite of the bitter Steven Hawkins whose thought process is imported/exported onto memory sticks. what door is opened for those who bring comfort to others on so many levels and once they walk through it, the door slams shut. Somewhere, within the words in the music is the answer so prevalent we are missing it. We can't blame drugs so it must be in the lyrics. Read the words without the music and the answer becomes clear...

I was at a karaoke celebrating my arrival in L.A. after 71 days wandering on the road across the continent when this song came on. Whoever requested it didn't take the stage, and the song just played. When it came time for the vocals to kick in, the entire audience burst out singing. Until that moment, I thought this song was something I adored but few others knew. Imagine my shock when these voices sprang up all around me.\n\nWe were almost through the first stanza when the requester rushed back to claim the song. They cut the music and restarted it, but for a few more glorious seconds, we just kept singing. Just a chorus of voices, no music. \n\nFor once, instead of swimming against the current, I felt in sync with the world. For a moment, the world was moving in my direction, singing my song, and welcoming me to join in. \nI will forever associate this song with that feeling of being connected to and a part of this world. \n\nThank you, Chris. Your voice was with me through the wilderness, while I was lost in the cities and alone in the hills... and it was there again to welcome me back to civilization. Because of your songs, though I wandered, I did not wander alone.

I know it's been almost a week ago now but , being the HUGE fan I am, it's really started to sink in the last cpl days. I think I've been in disbelief and somewhat in shock. This insanely talented man ....his voice....his lyrics, there can never be another. Thru happy times, sad times, some of the hardest times and life's pivotal moments, his voice carried me, held me, comforted me and pushed me back on my feet again. I just can't fathom the thought that the voice that could give anyone chills is gone forever. R.I.P Mr. Chris Cornell, you may have left our earth but you have also left us with one of the greatest gifts.....your music, and for that, I'll always be grateful.

to those making fun of people getting sad over the death of an artist they probably never met , be it a singer poet author painter , these artists are the ones whose words or work spoke to us when we needed someone to guide us through difficulties and hard times they're the ones who found all the words we lost . Without art we are not human , and to them we owe the privilege of finding beauty in all this ugliness . Chris Cornell was one of those artists we could relate to better than we were able to relate to persons we actually knew at times . Thank you Chris , now you're as free as you've ever wanted .

Suicide is a real thing. Depression is a real disease. No matter how great a person has things, there is no greater equalizer than Mental Illness. Been struggling with it myself for about 10 years. If you feel suicidal please reach out to someone, anyone, be heard. Or if you think someone you know is feeling like that, reach out to them, just knowing you are there can make a real difference. RIP Chris. Take care man.

\nGood Game. \nCambio y fuera.
